Lead recycling
BUYBACK OF BOWLS,
LEAD BULBS AND BALLASTS
The Navylest foundry buys back ballast, bulbs and keels made of lead that have reached the end of their life or have been damaged following a grounding.
Our teams evaluate each piece according to its weight, its composition and the lead price (LME) in order to offer a fair and transparent valuation.
We also provide free collection of your bowling pins and bulbs, subject to the project's terms and conditions.
LEAD IS
INFINITELY RECYCLABLE
Whatever form the lead takes, whether it is ballast, a keel or a bulb, it can be recycled almost entirely.
This material has one of the best recycling rates among industrial metals used today. Also discover the properties of lead and its recycling to understand why this metal has been used for centuries in industry and boating.
A SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION
Recycling is becoming essential for both economic and environmental reasons.
Recycling used materials is a sustainable alternative to the exploitation of natural resources and landfilling.
Today, more than 90% of the lead ballast weights marketed in Europe already come from recycled materials. This approach also applies to lead keels and bulbs used in the marine industry, which can be melted down and reused without any significant loss of quality.
EXCELLENT
COROSION RESISTANCE
Since antiquity, lead has been used for its very high resistance to corrosion and external aggressions.
It exhibits excellent resistance to atmospheric agents, many chemical agents, and water, while retaining its properties over time. However, this resistance does not apply to so-called "aggressive" waters, such as very pure waters devoid of minerals, particularly in the presence of oxygen, or waters containing weak acids.
In a marine environment, its performance in seawater is particularly satisfactory, which explains its historical use in boating.
